Harley Park and Ian Dipple Lagoon

Waterfront park on the Broadwater with two playgrounds (one ship-themed, one with climbing ropes and a flying fox), shaded picnic tables, barbecues, public toilets, a sandy foreshore and fishing spots. Ian Dipple Lagoon, beside the park, is floodlit in the evenings.

Broadwater Parklands and the Rockpools

Large waterfront park on the Southport side of the Broadwater, south along the water from Aqua. The Rockpools is a toddler water-play area; there are also barbecues, a swimming pontoon, beach volleyball and the Great Lawn. The Gold Coast Aquatic Centre is there too.

O'Reilly's, Lamington National Park

Rainforest in the hinterland. Free for day visitors: the Tree Top Walk (nine suspension bridges about 15 m above the rainforest floor; no age limit, supervise young children), rainforest walks, lookouts, exhibitions and bird feeding. Some paid experiences need booking.

Tamborine Rainforest Skywalk

A 1.5 km rainforest walk with a 40 m cantilevered Skywalk bridge and the Cedar Creek viewing platform, about 45 minutes at a leisurely pace. Make a half or full day of it with the wider Tamborine Mountain area, known for galleries and wineries.
